I was not raised by my parents. I was raised by a very loving grandmother. For reasons that she never explained, she never talked about my relatives. The only thing I knew were my parents names. When I was 13, my grandmother passed away and I was made a ward of the state. I grew up thinking I was alone in this world. About 18 years ago, I got tired of being alone and started researching my family. I drove thousands of miles, researched thousands of files in old libraries, went to newspaper morgues, and made too many phone calls. My researched paid off, I was able to trace my family tree through 13 generations with more than 1400 people. I am now in contact with relatives living right here in Virginia. On my way, I discovered that my family came to the new world in 1660. Not one of the first settlers in the new world, but real close. It was then that I decided to form this small business, to help others find where they belong in time and where their ancestors came from. Our goal is to provide our customers with not only data, but a feeling of connection. |
